Ruah Ranch A new approach to teaching the adult rider!

“But wait a minute – I’m getting somewhere now,” you say. Horses are relatively lazy – they’d much rather be back in their stall or pasture, sipping on a tall, cool bucket of water and watching their favorite show on Animal Planet. So as soon as you teach them something new either finish the day’s lesson or go on to a different exercise, preferably one they’re familiar with and at which they’re competent. In other words, reward the horse for a job well done. Follow this pattern and you’ll be amazed at what a willing partner your horse becomes – eager to figure out what you want to do as soon as you ask so he can return to his comfortable box stall and enjoy the treats you’ve prepared for him.
